As of 1 July 2025, NSW Touch Association (NSWTA) will implement an individual membership model, aligning with Touch Football Australia (TFA) and all other states in adopting a national, unified membership structure. This change is part of a broader national strategy to streamline membership processes and deliver better value and consistency for all participants.

TFA first introduced this model via MySideline in July 2023, with Queensland Touch Football transitioning in 2024. NSWTA’s move in 2025 means that, for the first time, all states will operate under a single national membership framework.

Why This Change?

While NSWTA has been exploring this transition for over 18 months, it is more than a strategic step. It is also a key recommendation from the Independent Governance and Operating Model Review, recently completed. This change aims to:

    • Improve national alignment and consistency

    • Reduce administrative burden for volunteers

    • Enable long-term reinvestment into the sport

    • Create a more efficient, user-friendly registration experience

What’s Changing?

Historically, NSWTA membership operated on a team affiliation model, where a portion of competition fees was passed from affiliates to NSWTA. This meant the more competitions you joined, the more you paid to NSWTA.

From 1 July 2025, NSWTA will move to a “pay once, play often” model through MySideline. Participants will complete a one-time annual membership payment to register for competitions, rather than paying a portion of fees at every competition.

How Will It Work?

    • From 1 July 2025, players will register and pay their annual membership via MySideline.

    • The annual fee is $60.00 (including GST and transaction fees), broken down as:

        • $30.00 – TFA National Membership

        • $30.00 – NSWTA Membership

    • This payment is required before registering for your first competition each year.

    • Once paid, members can participate in multiple competitions across NSW at no additional membership cost (competition entry fees still apply).

    • Membership is valid until 30 June each year and must be renewed annually to continue participating.

What’s Included in Your Membership?

Your NSWTA annual membership includes:

TFA National Membership

    • Access to MySideline

    • Coverage under the National Insurance Scheme

    • Educational resources

Access to All Competitions Across NSW

    • A single payment covers you to play in multiple competitions, removing the previous model of paying fees to NSWTA with each registration.

Pathway Participation

    • Eligibility for Affiliate, Regional, State, and National programs, events, and representative opportunities.
