NSW Touch Football are proud to award Taren Point Touch Association’s very own, Kristie Stubbs, as Volunteer of the Month for June 2026.
To share some of Kristie’s story, we asked her:
1. What motivated you to start volunteering with your local Touch Association, and how long have you been involved?
I started volunteering approximately 10 years ago when my eldest child started playing touch football at the age of 6.
2. What do you enjoy most about volunteering within the Touch Football community?
I love seeing the kids playing at our park, having fun, forming new friends, creating lasting friendships & being a part of the great community in working together at grassroots touch.
3. Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time volunteering?
Our Sharks club dinner at the JSC tournament in Wagga Wagga is one of my favourite nights of the year. The dress ups, the laughter, the dancing, the memories, the atmosphere our club has created on this night is epic.
4. What do you enjoy or love most about Touch Football?
I have now played touch football for over 35 years. I recently played with my father & my daughter in the same park team. 3 generations on the touch field together was extremely memorable for me. I have also made many beautiful, life-long friendships.
5. What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting involved as a volunteer in Touch Football?
If you’re thinking about volunteering in touch football, I’d say just do it. You don’t need to know everything or have years experience, you just need a willingness to help. Every club relies on volunteers and without them, competitions simply can’t run. Personally volunteering has given me so much more than I ever expected. I’ve made lifelong friendships, watched kids grow in confidence on and off the field, and had the privilege of giving back to the sport and the community that has given so much to my own family. There’s something incredibly rewarding about knowing you’ve played a small part in creating a place people can come together, stay active and make life long memories.
