NSW Touch Football (NSWTF) is calling on the Touch Football community to help shape the future of the regional game across NSW.
The 2026 Region Review is now being launched to better understand how the current regional structure is working, what support Affiliates and volunteers need, and how NSWTF can strengthen the connection between Affiliates, Regions, pathways, competitions, and the wider Touch Football community.

To support the consultation process, NSWTF will provide further information, surveys and feedback opportunities to the community in the coming days and weeks.
These resources will be designed to make it as easy as possible for Regions, Affiliates, volunteers, players, coaches, referees, selectors, parents and other stakeholders to have their say. The surveys and supporting materials will help guide feedback across the key areas of the review, including regional objectives, governance, leadership and culture, technical development, pathways, and regional boundaries.
NSWTF encourages the community to engage with these opportunities as they are released and to provide honest, constructive and practical feedback that will help inform the future regional framework for Touch Football across NSW.
This review is not about change for the sake of change. It is about listening and determining whether Regions are appropriately positioned, structured and supported for long-term success.
Regions have played a major role in the delivery, growth and identity of Touch Football across NSW for many years. They support representative opportunities, technical development, community connection, volunteer leadership and the delivery of the game across metropolitan, regional, rural and remote communities.
Now, NSWTF wants to hear directly from the people who know the game best.
Consultation will open on 1 July 2026 and close on 1 August 2026, with feedback to be reviewed and considered throughout August.
The review will focus on six key areas:
- The role and purpose of Regions
- Regional governance and decision-making
- Leadership, culture and integrity
- Coach, referee, selector and technical development
- Player and technical pathways
- Regional boundaries, travel and accessibility
NSWTF CEO Daniel Rushworth said the review is an important opportunity for the community to have a genuine voice in the future direction of the sport. “This review is about our people and our game. Regions, Affiliates and volunteers have helped build Touch Football across NSW, and we want to make sure the structure around them is clear, supportive and ready for the future. We are not entering this process with a predetermined outcome. We want to hear what is working, what is challenging, what needs to be protected, and what could be improved. The best outcomes will come from honest, constructive and practical feedback from across the whole community.”
As part of the consultation process, Regions will receive tailored information packs to support informed discussion. Affiliates will have the opportunity to provide structured feedback, while technical personnel and participants will also be invited to contribute through forums, surveys and feedback opportunities.
NSWTF Chair Anthony Dudeck said the Board is committed to ensuring the review is transparent, respectful and focused on strengthening the sport. “Our Regions are an important part of the Touch Football landscape in NSW. They carry history, identity and connection, and they have supported generations of players, coaches, referees selectors, and volunteers. This review is about ensuring the regional model continues to serve the game well into the future. We want the community to be part of that conversation. Strong governance, clear pathways, positive culture and sustainable volunteer structures are critical to the long-term health of the sport. This process gives our community the chance to help shape what comes next.”
Following the close of consultation, NSWTF will collate and analyse feedback, identify common themes, consider risks and opportunities, and develop proposed next steps.
Any future recommendations requiring formal governance consideration, By-Law changes or staged implementation will progress through the appropriate NSWTF processes.
Most importantly, NSWTF is encouraging the community to take part.
