We regret to advise that the planned face-to-face NSW State Conference and NSWTA State Awards Dinner will not proceed in 2021.
The current uncertainty around the COVID-19 situation in the greater Sydney area, combined with today being our D-day for financial commitments, means that we have needed to err on the side of caution. Both for the health and safety of our members and to ensure we protect the organisation.
We’ve been in discussions with the venues around restrictions currently in place, and that these may extend through to our Conference. We also have contacted many delegates already registered.
Venue restrictions provide for several logistical issues in the smooth running of both events. Indications from those members already registered indicate a level of hesitancy in attending and/or traveling to Sydney in the current uncertain climate. Staff have also made contact with Affiliates who traditionally attend and have found similar reluctance. We acknowledge that some are supportive of still attending.
While we were hopeful of being able to deliver both events face to face, due to the current situation and the timeline for commitments, alternate availability, we have had to make the decision today.
We are currently considering how we can still deliver the conference content to our membership. Once further details are known, they will be communicated. We will present the NSWTA State Awards in an online event format similar to 2020.
We will continue to monitor the situation throughout the State, NSW Health, the Office of Sport and Sport NSW. We will communicate any future recommendations, changes to COVID-19 Safety Plans, or Public Health Orders that impact our sport. Best wishes and stay safe.
