NSW Touch would like to CONGRATULATE David Baggio who has been named as a finalist in the 2016 NSW Community Sports Volunteer Awards under “Official of the Year” by Sport NSW – after numerous volunteers from across the state were put forward by their sports in recognition of their hard work.
The NSW Community Sports Volunteer Awards is an all-embracing event that celebrates sporting volunteerism and achievements across the state each year.
NSW-based sporting organisations are invited to nominate officials, administrators, coaches and leaders, to ensure the Awards recognise all levels of volunteers in sport. General Manager Dean Russell quoted “We are extremely pleased for and proud of David Baggio receiving this recognition via being a finalist for this prestigious award. David is not just the Worlds No1 referee on the field but also off it. His taking of time to mentor and develop all referees to help them attain his high standard is nothing short of outstanding”
This year’s finalists span the full spectrum of sports and include some of the less mainstream sports such as Wheelchair Basketball, Ultimate Frisbee, Motorsport and Orienteering.
New South Wales’ most-deserving volunteers will be recognised at an awards ceremony hosted by the Hon. Stuart Ayres, Minister for Sport, in the Strangers’ Room of NSW Parliament House, at 6:30pm on Friday, 19 August 2016.
Once again congratulations to David and wish him the best of luck.
