The 2019 Country Championships will be held on October 19-20 and with the event tapping off in just over two (2) weeks, record numbers will head to the Central Coast Region.
The event move has seen an increase of over 20 teams. 76 teams in total and 12 Affiliates will compete for the Country Championships Title in particularly the Men’s Open Division with 12 teams challenging for naming rights.
Doyalson, Central Coast, and Wollongong Men’s Open will definitely be tough contenders with all three teams currently sitting in the top 5 at this year’s Vawdon Cup Men’s Premier League Competition.
In the Women’s Open, the Newcastle City Knights will be feeling very confident after their recent Hornets Championships victory, but can the girls from Wollongong regain their title and make it a triple?
Port Macquarie Makos had to do it the hard way last year against strong opposition, injured players and just enough on the field they managed to hold out for the victory, but could recently crown Hunter Western Hornets Mixed Open Champions Newcastle and runners up Central Coast give them a run for their money? Like Wollongong Women’s, Port Macquarie Makos they too are looking at taking the title for the 3rd year running.
