Deja Vu in 2022 Origin Series

The 2022 State of Origin series felt like a case of Deja Vu.

Last year General Manager Dean Russell called the 2020 (played in 2021) series “the tightest series played” until the 2022 series said “hold my beer”

On the edge of your-seat games, heated moments, intercepts, dropped balls, drop-offs you name it this series was INTENSE

Day 2 started with NSW holding first-game leads in 9 divisions

Game 2 saw 7 Divisions secured needing another two to reclaim the Series.

With 6 Divisions live the atmosphere in the Team NSW bunker increased as teams came in to check on live game updates and to watch the live stream.

Waiting for the results to be radio through was nail-biting. The Womens 40 took an impressive win 5-0 needing now only 1 more division to retain the shield.

The heart attack division – Snr Mixed. At one stage, a try scored nearly every set which sent the game into a dropoff.

As Team NSW sat patiently waiting, everyone held their breath … and held their breath … and held their breath.

NSW 9 QLD 8 sealing the win for their division and overall victory for NSW.

Thank you, Greg Denny and his team at Queensland Touch, along with the crew from NSW Touch who worked together to ensure once again a fantastic Origin Series was produced not only on the field but off.

Thank you to C.ex International Stadium for its amazing facilities, and thank you to its staff.

NSW CLAIM THE SERIES 9 – 8 (invitational teams in this series do not count towards the overall points tally) and the shield is retained.
