The weather held out for Finals day of the 2015 Junior Regionals. The stage was set at The Home of Penrith Touch (The Kingsway Playing fields) and the regions delivered an outstanding show of skill and athleticism throughout the finals series.
The Under 14 Boys division saw the Sydney Scorpions 3 defeat the Sydney Mets 2 in a drop off (Extra Time). Ben Trbojevic, who set up the winning Touchdown, was named Player of the final. Referees for this game were Phil Balcombe, Tony Collins & Clint Applit.
The Under 14 Girls division was taken out 3-0 by the Sydney Scorpions over the Southern Suns. The Player of the final was Lucy McDonald from the Sydney Scorpions. Referees for this game were Alec Clark, Matt Nott, & Amanda Draper.
The Under 16 Boys division was taken out by the Sydney Mets a game that saw the Mets get out to a 2-0 lead early and then do enough to hold on for the win 3-2 over the Hunter Western Hornets. Player of the Final was awarded to Isaiah Niumata (Mets). Referees for this game were Josh Thomas-Schumacher, Alanah Sinclair & Zane McCahon.
The Hunter-Western Hornets were too good for the Southern Suns in the Under 16 Girls division. The Hornets took out the final 7 Touchdowns to 2 over the well drilled Suns side. Player of the Final, Kelsey French, was instrumental in her team’s victory. Referees for this game were Kathleen Spence, Tim Moloney & Paul Khoudair.
The Under 18 Boys Final saw the Sydney Rebels 4 defeat the Sydney Scorpions 3 in a drop off. Charbel Azzi was awarded Player of the Final. Referees for this game were Kai Maruta, Damon Cuppit & Steve Liang.
The Under 18 Girls Division was taken out by the Sydney Scorpions 8 who defeated the Hunter-Western Hornets 0. Player of the Final was awarded to Shellie Davis. Referees for the game were Peter Millington, Joe Aboud & Pat Costigan.
The Championship Region was the Sydney Scorpions (69 points), 2nd Sydney Mets (46 points) & 3rd Hornets (42).
