New Life Member to be inducted

Mary Wachman, a cornerstone of the Eastern Suburbs Touch Association (ESTA), has been honoured as the 32nd Life Member of the New South Wales Touch Association (NSWTA) at the 2023/24 NSWTA Annual General Meeting.

A founding member of ESTA in 1985, Mary has been an ever-present force within the organisation, serving continuously on the committee since inception and driving both park touch football and the junior and senior representative programs. Her dedication to the sport is unparalleled; she’s filled every role imaginable, from park player, referee, and coordinator to representative Roosters, regional, and state player. Additionally, Mary has coached at every Junior State Cup since it began in 1996. In 2002, she launched and coordinated the Easts Junior competition, which has since become a thriving part of the community.

Mary’s strength lies in her remarkable ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders across all game levels. Known for her strong presence and friendly and loyal nature, she has fostered relationships and inspired growth within the sport for nearly four decades.

NSWTA is proud to welcome Mary Wachman as a Life Member—a well-deserved recognition for her incredible contributions and enduring impact on touch football in New South Wales
