We regret to advise that the planned face-to-face NSW Referees Awards Dinner will not proceed in 2021.
The current uncertainty around the COVID-19 situation in the greater Sydney area, combined with today being our D-day for financial commitments, means that we have needed to err on the side of caution. Both for the health and safety of our members and to ensure we protect the organisation.
We’ve been in discussions with the venue around restrictions currently in place, and that these may extend through to our Conference. We also have contacted many referees already booked to attend.
We have also spoken to Peter Paniccio from West Clothing who makes all our Blue Blazers. He is currently closed under the current NSW Health COVID stay at home orders which put into jeopardy time frames to ensure that all 31 blazers are ordered and made in the timeframe.
While we were hopeful of being able to deliver a face-to-face, due to the current situation and the timeline for commitments, alternate availability, we have had to make the decision today.
We will present the NSWTA Referees Awards in an online event format similar to the State Conference in 2020.
We are working with NSW Touch Referee Director Ian Matthew to ensure that all new State Graded Referees will be recognised in front of their peers at an NSW Touch major event.
In the interim, we will be making contact with you for a Social Media piece.
The 2019 and 2020 Referee of the Event Nominees will be announced shortly along with our TRYS Inductees for 2021 via our Website, Facebook Page, and the Referee Facebook Page
I will be in contact with all Graded Referees and TRYS Inductees over the next week or so with regards to uniforming so an ISC Order can be placed.
