1653 eager and keen players converged on the Tomaree Sporting Complex the home of Nelson Bay Touch for the annual Peter Wilson Memorial Championships. The event is the annual NSW Hunter-Western Hornets Junior championships and used as a major warm-up event for the teams attending the Junior State Cup. This year saw a huge 110 teams compete over the weekend from 15 different affiliates.

The weather in Nelson bay didn’t disappoint with beautiful weather all weekend and the quality touch football accompanied the quality weather.  And the quality of refereeing was in tow with the quality touch. The hornets selectors were out in force doing Talent Identification for the 2015 Junior Regionals Teams.

As the finals kicked in the gear the quality of touch football and quality of refereeing stepped up in tone and the finals matches were all tight with many drop off required to determine the winners.
