NSW Touch Football (NSWTF) is excited to confirm that the Masters Divisions will be offered at Vawdon Cup in 2026.
The Masters Division last featured in the competition in 2012, when Balmain faced Easts in a memorable final, while the Michael Jonson Medal was awarded to newly inducted Hall of Famer Garry Simmons.
Bringing the Masters Division back provides a meaningful opportunity for experienced athletes to once again compete on one of NSW Touch Football’s premier stages. It also recognises and celebrates the history, tradition and enduring contribution of Masters players who continue to shape the game.
Expression of Interest and Nomination Process
To give Affiliates ample time to plan for the potential introduction of the Masters Division, NSWTF will release an Expression of Interest form later this month.
This form will capture indicative interest from Affiliates and enable NSWTF to assess the division’s initial viability with real, community‑driven insights.
NSWTF is committed to a transparent and collaborative process. Throughout this exploration phase, we will work closely with interested Affiliates to ensure that, if the Masters Division proceeds—its rollout is strategic, well‑supported, and positioned for long‑term success.
Michael Jonson Medal
The NSW Touch Football Michael Jonson Medal honours one of Australia’s greatest age‑division players and a true NSW legend.
Awarded to the Masters Player of the Final in the Vawdon Cup, the medal recognises an athlete who delivers an exceptional performance when it matters most, on the biggest stage of the competition.
