35 teams from each of the six New South Wales regions – Sydney Mets, Sydney Scorpions, Sydney Rebels, Southern Suns, Hunter Western Hornets and Northern Eagles – have arrived in Ballina and over the next 2 days will compete in the 14’s, 16’s and 18’s Boys and Girls divisions fighting for the title of Regional Champions.
The Sydney Scorpions have continued their dominance from last year on Day 1 going undefeated in the Boys 14s, Girls 14s, Girls 16s, Boys 18s and the Girls 18s.
The Hunter Western Hornets Girls 18s showed the Scorpions that they have what it takes and currently sit undefeated with the Scorpions on the ladder. They both play each other tomorrow morning at 8.30am on Field 3 which no doubt will be one to watch!
The Mets Boys 16’s sit on top of the ladder but fought hard to get there. Hunter Western Hornets gave them a run for their money and the Mets were lucky to walk away with the win 8-7. Later in the day an exciting game against the Sydney Scorpions saw both teams come away with 2 points when the siren sounded finishing the game locked at 7-7.
Don’t count out the Hunter Western Hornets in this division. They are currently tied on points with the Sydney Scorpions and tomorrow morning on Field 3 might just be the early morning riser you need when the chase for 2nd place on the ladder taps off at 8.00am.
