Penrith Touch Association played host to the second instalment of the NSW Touch Football Year 11/12 Mixed Challenge State Final.
2016 Inaugural Champions All Saints College/St. Mary’s Maitland entered the tournament as heavy favourites and looking to defend their crown. The Novocastrians cruised through pool matches and entered the finals undefeated.
In the Quarter Finals All Saints/St Mary’s defeated Cherrybrook Tech 6-1. In the other Quarter Finals Narrabeen Sports HS defeated Hurlstone Ag 6-0, Narara Valley defeated Chifley College 5-2. In the fourth quarter final long-time rivals Warners Bay defeated Hunter Sports High in a close game 5 to 4.
After knocking out Hunter Sports High, the team from Warners Bay were confident heading into the Semi Finals coming up against Narara Valley. Narara Valley students proved too strong for the confident Warners Bay Team defeating them 6-4.
In the other Semi Final Narrabeen Sports High faced tough competition against defending champions All Saints/St Mary’s. The final score proved how close the game was with All Saints/St Mary’s progressing to their second grand final in the Year 11/12 Mixed Challenge winning the game 4-3.
In the Grand Final Narara Valley proved too strong for the defending champions taking out the second instalment of the Year 11/12 Mixed Challenge. Narara Valley drew from their success at last year’s Harvey Norman School Series where they placed third in Australia.
Congratulations to Narara Valley High School who are the champions of the NSW Touch Football Year 11/12 Mixed Challenge for 2017.
