NSW Touch Football (NSWTF) is excited to announce the launch of the NSWTF Affiliate Advisory Panel, a significant new initiative designed to strengthen the voice of Affiliates and ensure the future direction of Touch Football in NSW is informed by those closest to the game.
The launch of the Panel represents an important step in NSWTF’s broader strategic direction, as the organisation continues to strengthen engagement, improve communication, grow participation, support volunteers, and build a more connected and sustainable sport across the state.
Affiliates are the foundation of Touch Football in NSW. They deliver the competitions, welcome new participants, develop volunteers, support pathways, connect with local communities and drive the day-to-day experience of our sport. The Affiliate Advisory Panel has been created to ensure that this experience, knowledge and leadership plays a meaningful role in shaping the next phase of NSW Touch Football.
The Panel will provide a structured and collaborative forum for Affiliate perspectives to be heard by the NSWTF Chief Executive Officer and Board. It will assist by providing advice, feedback and recommendations on key areas including participation growth, competition models, facility development, volunteer support, Affiliate sustainability, governance, communication and future sport development priorities.
NSWTF Chief Executive Officer, Daniel Rushworth, said the establishment of the Panel is an important part of building a more connected and future-focused organisation. “This is an exciting and important step for NSW Touch Football. Our Affiliates are not just delivery partners; they are leaders in their communities and central to the future growth of our sport. As we develop and deliver our next strategic plan, it is critical that Affiliate voices are heard, understood and properly connected to the work of the CEO, staff and Board. The Affiliate Advisory Panel gives us a stronger mechanism to listen, test ideas, understand local challenges and opportunities, and work together on practical solutions that support the whole sport.”
The Panel will comprise seven members, with consideration given to representation across different Affiliate sizes, metropolitan and regional locations, and a diversity of skills, backgrounds and perspectives.
Importantly, the Panel will operate in a strategic advisory capacity. It will not replace the role of the Board, staff or Affiliates, and it will not hold operational decision-making authority. Instead, it will provide considered advice and recommendations that help NSWTF make better informed decisions and ensure Affiliate experience is reflected in strategic planning and delivery.
The creation of the Panel also reflects NSWTF’s commitment to modern governance, stronger stakeholder engagement and a more transparent relationship with the Touch Football community. It is designed to support a culture of collaboration, innovation, accountability and continuous improvement across the sport.
