The 2025 Junior Regionals promised to be a cracker — and it certainly delivered.
After an incredible 13-year reign, the Sydney Scorpions were finally unseated by the Hunter Western Hornets in 2024, a changing of the guard that added a fierce new edge to regional rivalry. But if anyone thought the Scorpions would step quietly aside, they were mistaken. The loss clearly sparked a fire in the belly of the powerhouse region, with the Scorpions returning in 2025 more determined than ever.
Junior Regionals showcased some amazing skill, grit, and a deep sense of pride, working relentlessly across the weekend to reclaim the Regional Champion title — and reclaim it they did.
Set against the picturesque backdrop of Mudgee, the tournament opened on Saturday with perfect conditions: blue skies, sunshine, and a stadium buzzing with excitement. Sunday brought a different challenge, as rain set in — but as any seasoned Touch Football player knows, it just wouldn’t be a real tournament without a bit of wet weather! Players, referees, and spectators alike took it all in stride, with spirits remaining high and the action on the field even hotter.
Congratulations to all regions for an outstanding weekend of competition, sportsmanship, and heart. And to the Sydney Scorpions — welcome back to the top.
We already can’t wait for 2026.
