Congratulations Ella Keefe!
NSW Touch Football are proud to award Northern Suburbs Touch Association’s very own, Ella Keefe, as Volunteer of the Month for February 2026.
“Ella is instrumental to the environment at Norths. Her dedication and desire to make sport enjoyable has ensure so many youth players transition into our women’s opens programs. Not only is she one of the most impactful coaches we have, Ella also supports in the administration of running the club- including field bookings, uniform sorting and communications. Ella is also a key figure in delivering our weekly all abilities program, and has been so for a number of years!”
To share some of Ella’s story, we asked her:
- What motivated you to start volunteering with your local Touch Association, and how long have you been involved?
I started volunteering to give back to my club at Norths in 2020 with the start of our all abilities program, as it has provided me with so many opportunities to play sport and be part of a supportive community. I’m passionate about ensuring that women and junior athletes have a clear pathway to grow within the sport, feel supported, and build lifelong friendships along the way. I’ve been involved for a number of years, and it’s been incredibly rewarding to contribute to a club that has given me so much.
2. What do you enjoy most about volunteering within the Touch Football community?
3. Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time volunteering?
A standout moment was seeing our All Abilities program play at the stadium during State Cup. That was incredibly special for everyone involved. Another proud achievement was our Under 18s making the semi final at Junior State Cup 2026. It was a huge accomplishment and a testament to the hard work and commitment of the players and coaches.
4. What do you enjoy or love most about Touch Football?
I love the strong sense of community, especially at Norths. Touch Football brings people together, creates opportunities for development, and fosters lifelong friendships. Being part of a club that values growth, inclusivity, and support, makes it even more special.
5. What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting involved as a volunteer in Touch Football?
Do it. Volunteering is such a rewarding experience. You’ll make lifelong friends and become part of a community that will support you on and off the field. It’s an environment that gives back just as much as you put in.
Every Touch Football club has those legends who just… make things happen. The ones who set alarms earlier than the sun to mark fields, fire up the BBQ without being asked, organise teams, support our referees, or jump in wherever help is needed. They’re the heartbeat of our affiliates, and our game wouldn’t run without them.
NSW Touch wants to celebrate those everyday heroes.
Each month, we’ll highlight one amazing volunteer who has gone above and beyond for their club. There are so many brilliant people out there, so help us find them!
