Congratulations Monique Buckley!

NSW Touch Football are proud to award Singleton Juniors Touch Association’s very own, Monique Buckley, as Volunteer of the Month for March 2026.

“She goes above and beyond organising every part of the club. She knows how to get the job done. From savvy shopping for the canteen to getting the lines marked, she does it all“

To share some of Monique’s story, we asked her:

  1. What motivated you to start volunteering with your local Touch Association, and how long have you been involved?

I was motivated to start volunteering because of my passion for Touch Footy and my desire to give back to the community. I wanted to do my part in providing my children, my friends’ children, and others in the community with the opportunity to play touch. I’ve been involved since my son was in the Under 8s in 2015, and it has been a rewarding experience both on and off the field.

      2. What do you enjoy most about volunteering within the Touch Football community?

What I enjoy most about volunteering within the Touch Football community is seeing participants grow and develop a genuine love for the sport. It really brings the whole town together on a Wednesday afternoon, with kids having a great time. Watching their enjoyment and the friendships they form within their teams is what makes it all so rewarding and is a big part of why I do this.

    3. Can you share a memorable moment or achievement from your time volunteering?

To be honest, there have been many memorable moments. I’ve invested a lot of time and energy into ensuring our affiliate has strong relationships with the Hornets and NSW Touch. Being awarded Administrator of the Year at the NSW Touch Awards, receiving a Blues Award, and then being recognised again at our end-of-season awards as Club Person of the Year was incredibly humbling and unexpected.
I’m grateful to have built such meaningful relationships and to be recognised for my efforts.

     4. What do you enjoy or love most about Touch Football?

What I love most about Touch Football is its fast-paced nature, the teamwork involved, and how inclusive it is. It brings people of all ages and skill levels together, which makes it really special, and it’s also a great way to stay active over the summer months.

     5. What advice would you give to someone thinking about getting involved as a volunteer in Touch Football?

I would say just get involved. You don’t need prior experience, just a willingness to help. It’s a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, and be part of a fantastic community. It’s also an opportunity to give back to the community and support your kids and their friends. Without volunteers, the game simply wouldn’t be possible.

Every Touch Football club has those legends who just… make things happen. The ones who set alarms earlier than the sun to mark fields, fire up the BBQ without being asked, organise teams, support our referees, or jump in wherever help is needed. They’re the heartbeat of our affiliates, and our game wouldn’t run without them.

NSW Touch wants to celebrate those everyday heroes.

Each month, we’ll highlight one amazing volunteer who has gone above and beyond for their club. There are so many brilliant people out there, so help us find them!
